....otherwise you will miss the Town Board Meetings. With the new format, town board meetings are being conducted in record time - the public portion of the April 22 Town Board Meeting was conducted between 7:00 and 7:32 PM -- and that includes a salute to the flag, and invocation and a moment of silence.
The April 22 meeting agenda had an executive session beginning at 6:00 PM - to discuss potential litigation, contract negotiations and appointments.
The Public Session began at 7:00 PM with the pledge, an invocation from Pastor Eddy De La Hoc from the Christian Church of the Sower in Hughsonville and a moment of silence remembering Timothy Barry.
The Agenda was discussed - removing two items from discussion (Nature Preserve Water Tenancy Agreement -- the water connection to the Town System has been made, but the financial agreements are still being finalized... and Sherwood Heights Stormwater Improvements -- an agreement with the resident needs to be finalized).
Randy Ross, President of Friends of Spook Hill Foundation spoke during the public portion, expressing how pleased how he and the group he represents are to see the Town fund improvements at the Spook Hill Park and to ask them to consider some climbing equipment suitable for children ages 7 -10.
The board then moved to a discussion about bleachers that the buildings & grounds team are working on refurbishing. There are currently 4 existing bleachers that have galvanized frames, including 1 that has been disassembled and ready to have aluminum seats installed. Steve Frazier is going to arrange to have another 4 sets of bleacher seats purchased at a cost of $8007 - which is within the budget. A resolution will be prepared for the May 13th Town Board meeting to address the additional bleachers.
The Consent Resolutions - (all approved - no discussion required)
Resolution Authorizing Settlement of Taxes for the property at 1601 Route 9 (Wendy's)
Resolution declaring April National Child Abuse Prevention Month

Resolution Accepting Performance Bond from Myers Run LLC
Resolution Accepting Correspondence Log
The Non-Consent Agenda (requiring discussion)
Resolution Authorizing Funding to Complete the Spook Hill Park Reconstruction Project - this was tabled -- while there is support for the funds to purchase the equipment as was discussed in the last board meeting, the Town Engineer has been asked to prepare estimates for addressing the parking, providing landscaping, a jogging track and refurbishment of the basket ball court - so that a resolution including all of the costs can be discussed and voted on. This project has been 9 years in the making and the neighbors/supporters want to see the project complete.
Resolution Appointing a Member to the Board of Assessment Review - the Board voted on and approved Judy L. Lancia as a board member - her term will be through September 30, 2029. The Board interviewed her (in a process that included postings and a press release announcing the opening) and the Town Assessor has recommended.
Discussion
Ward 1 - Council member Beale commented that the fire department was doing a walk through of Fun Central and Hudson Valley Office Furniture and that the building department was working with Alpine Commons to update the sign with the address - it is at least 20 years out of date. Unsafe structure placards have been ordered.
Ward 2 - Council member absent - no update
Ward 3 - Council Member Phillips commented that the Highway Department will begin repaving roads next week and have been fixing mailboxes that were damaged this past winter.
Ward 4 - Council Member Casella mentioned that the light on Marz field will be fixed in May and complimented those that volunteer to help the town, including this past Saturday re: Clean-up day in the Town.
The Supervisor - echoed the Council Members word - and also mentioned that the owner of Longobardi's provided Pizzas to the Earth Day volunteers - joining the sponsors for the event.(thank you!)
There have been some phishing scams directed at town employees -- encouraging them to click on links which then cause problems. The Board authorized software (recommended by the IT consultant and used at the county) which helps prevent phishing scams -- and also provides training for town employees, which includes a test to help build their phishing detection skills.
April 23 - State of the Town Address at 5:00 PM
